In the vCloud Director interface, navigate to the "Compute" section in the left menu, and then select "vApps". From there, click on "New VAPP" to create a new virtual application.
In the pop-up window, please specify the name for your virtual application and, if necessary, a description. Once you have done so, click "ADD VIRTUAL MACHINE".
In the next pop-up window, please specify the name for your virtual machine, the computer name (which will be set as the host OS hostname; please note that there are restrictions on the characters allowed, and you will be warned if you use inappropriate characters), and a description (if desired). Make sure the "Type" option is set to "From Template".
Please note that the list of templates may be quite extensive and is divided across several pages. To better assist you in your search, please use the filters provided below.
In the list of templates, select the desired one and check the box (represented by a dot) by clicking on the left side of the template name.
Please note that for the best quality of work, it is recommended to select a template from your data center's catalog. To determine which data center your virtual infrastructure resides in, we suggest you read the following article.
Please check the box next to "Use a custom storage policy" and choose the storage policy that best suits your needs from the list of available options. If you cannot see the caption or the checkbox, please slide the vertical slider at the bottom of the window down as far as it will go.
After completing the settings, please click "OK" to return to the previous pop-up window. Ensure that the virtual machine you require appears in the list. If all looks good, click "Create".
The "Please wait" message will appear above the name of the virtual application while it is loading.
Please wait until the pop-up window has closed. Then, you will see the virtual application that you have created. It will be located under "Virtual Machines".
The CentOS operating system supports customization. To customize it, please go to the "Virtual Machines" section and, without starting the virtual machine, click on "DETAILS".
In the opened menu, please go to "Guest OS Customization". Please check the boxes for "Allow local administrator password" and "Generate random password".
After confirming the actions by clicking "Save", please start the virtual machine (from the "Action" menu - "Power On"). Please wait until the start is complete (it is recommended to wait a few minutes after the successful start message). Then, return to the "Details" menu. You will see the generated and set password in the previously blank field. Please remember or write it down for future reference.
Note: If the virtual machine is already running, please stop it ("Actions" - "Power Off"). Then, follow the customization instructions provided above and run the virtual machine again using "Actions" - "Power On and Force Recustomization".
