In the vCloud Director interface select "Compute" in the left menu and then "vApps". Left click on "NEW VAPP" inscription.
In the pop-up window specify the name of the virtual application and (if necessary) a description. Then press the "ADD VIRTUAL MASHINE".
In the next pop-up window specify the name of the virtual machine, the computer name (will be set as the guest OS hostname; there are restrictions on the characters used, a warning will be issued in case of inappropriate characters) and a description (if necessary). The "Type" switch must be in the "From Template" position.
Please note: the list of templates can be very large and is divided into several pages. For better search, use filters as shown below.
In the list of templates select the desired template and check the checkbox (as a dot) by left-clicking to the left of the template ("Name").
Please note that for better quality of work it is necessary to select the template from the catalogue of your data center. To identify which data center your virtual infrastructure is in, we recommend to read the following article.
Check the box next to "Use custom storage policy" and select the storage policy you want from the drop-down list of available options. If the caption and the check box are not visible, slide the vertical scroll slider all the way down the window.
After completing the settings, press "OK". This will return you to the previous pop-up window. Make sure that the one you need appears in the list of virtual machines. If everything is OK, click "Create".
The "Please wait" information message will appear above the name of the virtual application.
Wait until the pop-up window closes. You will see the virtual application you have created. The virtual machine will be available under "Virtual Mashines".
The Ubuntu operating system supports customization. Go to the "Virtual Mashines" section and click "DETAILS" without starting the virtual machine.
In the menu go to "Guest OS Customisation". Check the boxes, "Allow local administrator password" and "Generate random password".
After confirming the actions by pressing "Save", start the virtual machine (via the "Action" menu - "Power On"). Be sure to wait until the start is over ( it is recommended to wait a few minutes after the message about successful start). Then go back to the "Details" menu. In the previously blank field you will see the generated and set password. Remember or write it down.
Note: if the virtual machine has already started, stop it ("Actions" - "Power Off"), follow the customization instructions above, and then run it again with "Actions" - "Power On and Force Recustomization".
